I have an opportunity to purchase a clean Viking Freesia 415 sewing machine and was hoping someone might have an opinion on the machine. I've read the reviews but they were primarily written by new users who hadn't driven the machine very long. The machine can be purchased for $275 and includes several feet including the walking foot. I believe the machine is about 9 years old.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Freesia models are known to have been very nice machines. They are in the same group '6' with the Rose, Lily, Interludes, and Platinum models and take the same Viking feet and accessories.
These are wonderful Swedish machines and very similar. As the newer models were developed just some different features or stitches were added to the older models.and of course prices increased.

I purchased this machine, without the walking foot, for the same price 2 1/2 years ago for my grown daughter. We were the third owners. I got to play with it for a while before I gave it to her, and I was very impressed with how beautifully it sewed and how user friendly it was. My daughter loves it but, I will confess, she uses it primarily for mending, hemming, and light home dec sewing. I periodically tell her to give it back if she decides she doesn't want it any more, but I think she will be keeping it for many years to come.
I know this isn't the kind of info you are really looking for and hopefully someone else who has used it more can help.

That's a fair price for that machine. The walking foot for that model retailed for $75.00 alone. If you're looking for a good quality European machine without lots of bells and whistles,I would get it.Skill: Intermediate

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I'll be getting it.
I watched one go for $395 plus $38 shipping without the walking foot on eBay yesterday.

Wow! I guess you and I both got (are getting) great deals. This machine has a little bit of fun built into it bc you can mirror the stitches (can't remember if it was top to bottom or side to side). The only thing I didn't like is I wished there were more decorative stitches to play around with; the Freesia 425 would have been good. But, truth-be-told, I would prob. never use the extra stitches other than to play.
